Ryno & Melissa Du Rand

Ryno du Rand and I have spent the last seven years looking for the best family restaurants in Cape Town. Venues where we would love to spend time with our two sons. Never did we ever believe that we would one day own a piece of such a magical family space.

Our journey to this point started in 2006 when we joined the Tintswalo Lodges team, owned by Lisa and Warwick Goosen. Being involved in the openings of Tintswalo Atlantic and Tintswalo Boulders, taught us the value of maintaining high standards and always building and nurturing relationships. We now have the opportunity to use all we have learnt and apply it to the creation of Barstaurant.

Ryno spent many hours working on every small detail, ensuring that the beauty of the historical hotel shone through into the new restaurant and bar. Highlighting all the unique features, some of them even hidden away, which was an absolute delight to discover.

Together with our partners and friends, the Goosen’s, we look forward to growing into a familiar name for your family when thinking where to celebrate your special occasions, creating memories at Barstaurant.

Lisa & Warwick Goosen

Warwick and Lisa Goosen joined the family business – Century Property Developments – Founded by Ernest and Gaye Corbett (Lisa’s parents) in the late 1980’s – 26 years ago, and served as board members for over 18 years.

Over years of hard work their portfolio expanded to include the development and management of 200 000 square meters of commercial and retail space as well as over 1000 residential and student opportunities across the wide landscape of South Africa.

Warwick, Lisa, Ernest and Gaye established Tintswalo Lodges 18 years ago, growing into a globally respected player in the hotel and hospitality industry, owning and managing 6 of South Africa’s premier boutique coastal and Safari Lodges.

Their years of passion for the tourism and hospitality industry sparked a love of new exciting areas and projects. The Glencairn historical building was one of those such projects and through Warwick’s insistence on investing and creating on this project they embarked on a partnership with long standing staff Ryno and Melissa du Rand.

It is a creation of old versus new and an opportunity to create a place for all with offerings of food, play and sport!
